The philosopher Goethe wrote:

“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative, there is one element of truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans. The moment one commits oneself then providence takes over. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have dreamed could come his way.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it!”

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it”.

Just sometimes in life you read or hear something that makes total sense to you; no doubt, it feels right and looking back, you see it as a turning point; the way your future was meant to go.

This was exactly my experience after listening to the introductory talk given by Paul Fransella, American Silva Method instructor, London in 1986.  What he was saying made total logical sense to me; we are capable of achieving more than we ever dreamed!

It was a light-bulb moment!

I signed on and with my total commitment; I began to reap the benefits – immediately!

Goethe: “Once one is committed all sorts of things come to ones aid.”

I didn’t know at the time but my commitment to the mental discipline of Silva training was to save my life when I fell off a boat!

My first achievement was to put myself to sleep that night and wake the following morning at a specific time! “Wow, it works!”  I took my seat that first day, eager to start, hungry to learn more.

What I was to learn was truly life-changing. For the first time, I understood that the quality of my days on this earth didn’t have to be a hit and miss affair. I wasn’t at the hands of fickle fate; I didn’t have to punctuate my every happiness with a caution “Don’t speak too soon…!”

Confidence in my own ability both mental and physical was sealed in those lectures – and all that it took was my attention and practice!

Thank you, Jose Silva, for devoting your life to the Betterment of Humankind.
